First Earthquake Recorded (31 July 2025) by BLCA-6
Published in News
We are pleased to announce that the BLCA 6 station, deployed at CUET, successfully recorded its first earthquake event. This marks an important milestone for our low-cost seismic monitoring initiative.
The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.7, with an epicentral distance of approximately 270 km from the station. Analysis of the recorded waveform shows that the device captured the S-wave phase clearly. For future nearby events, we expect to record both P-waves and S-waves with higher clarity.

This achievement highlights the potential of BLCA devices to contribute meaningfully to seismic monitoring across Bangladesh. Continuous improvement and further deployment will strengthen our capability to detect and analyse local earthquakes effectively.
