BLCA Network Actively Recording Regional Seismic Events

We are pleased to report that BUET Low-Cost Accelerometers (BLCA) have already recorded several regional earthquakes. Following the devastating Mw 5.4 Narsingdi earthquake on 21 November 2025, our team visited Narsingdi to conduct a post-earthquake reconnaissance survey and to install a BLCA device for capturing aftershocks.
The BLCA installed at the PWD office in Narsingdi successfully recorded two aftershock events on 27 November 2025 and 4 December 2025.
These results demonstrate the effectiveness of BLCA devices, which significantly complement the traditional seismic network.
At present, efforts are underway to expand the BLCA network coverage and to develop a comprehensive strong-motion database for Bangladesh.
