The project “Development of Low-Cost Methods for Monitoring and Early Warning for Geohazards,” funded by the Research and Innovation Centre for Science and Engineering (RISE), BUET, has been successfully completed. Under the supervision of Principal Investigator Dr. Tahmeed Malik Al Hussaini and Co-Principal Investigator Dr. Zunaid Baten, the research team has:

  • Developed several BUET Low-Cost Accelerometers (BLCA)

  • Developed several BUET Low-Cost Tiltmeters (BLCT)

  • Developed a BUET Low-Cost Inclinometer (BLCI)

The team deployed the BLCAs  across Bangladesh and successfully recorded several regional earthquakes, including the 21 November Narsingdi earthquake (mainshock) and its subsequent aftershocks.

We are now entering the next phase of the project. If you are interested in contributing to the development of low-cost instruments suitable for Bangladesh, we would be excited to have you on our team.
